What is TEPSA?
The Top End Pharmacy Students' Association (TEPSA) is a student organisation catering and the voice for pharmacy students of Charles Darwin University (CDU). The first TEPSA Annual General Meeting was held in 2008 where our first TEPSA committee was elected. The Bachelor of Pharmacy offered by CDU is the only pharmacy course in the Northern Territory. TEPSA works for the interests of its members by providing a range of services, activities and other opportunities. Although we are a young organisation, we have come a long way in a short space of time. Over the past years, we have held a number of successful events such as the annual TEPSA Pharmacy Ball, fundraisers, educational events, weekly sport activities and other organised social events TEPSA is a branch of the National Australian Pharmacy Students’ Association (NAPSA) and International Pharmacy Students Federation (IPSF) which opens the way to a range of benefits for TEPSA’s members. This includes providing educational courses and student networking on a national and international basis. As a result of this affiliation, CDU students have been representatives on the NAPSA national council and also made their mark within the greater Australian pharmacy student scene at NAPSA events such as the NAPSA Congress. |
There are number of plans in the TEPSA pipeline for the months and coming years. The achievements to date can only be attributed to the hard work and dedication of the students involved. As the pharmacy course grows stronger at CDU, we believe that TEPSA will only strengthen too.
Why does TEPSA exist?
To help orientate new pharmacy students at CDU,
To promote the value of our profession within the Association, CDU and the Darwin community,
To develop members networking skills, and
To expose general members to future industry, research and employment opportunities.
What are the benefits of being a TEPSA member?
For general members, TEPSA takes orders for Pharmacy placement shirts and pharmacy textbooks (such as the AMH and APF) at a reduced price. These items are not available through the bookshop at CDU. Other benefits include professional development opportunities with complimentary medicines courses and First aid courses. General membership includes registration with the National Pharmacy Students Association (NAPSA) and the International Pharmacy Students Federation (IPSF). General members also get the chance to attend the annual NAPSA Congress and have access to the PLACEBO newsletter/magazine.
For all members, TEPSA provides networking opportunities such as TEPSA's annual Pharmacy Ball, pub crawls, weekly sport activities and other organised social events. As a TEPSA member you will be entitled to exclusive TEPSA discounts and/or priority reservations to these events.
